Special verses and encouragement from friends:
"Kevin is in the best healing hands in the world!!!" "If you pray that God will move a mountain and He doesn't, assume Christ wants you to climb it instead and see Him transfigured." Beth Moore "Maybe they could give you a wooden post, an eye patch and the you could pretend to be a pirate. Seriously, I will pray that everything goes well."

Regarding prayer: "You've always been in the top ten but in future I would rather have you work your way to the top in a less physical way!" "How wonderful when we can feel the prayers of others on our behalf. God has given us so many precious gifts . . . to pray for others and to be prayed for. May God continue to guide the doctors so they may do all possible to restore mobility. Will certainly pray for this next procedure." "Happy Birthday to Kevin! Wow, 43 is pretty young. You have a lot of years ahead of you, and I pray that God will give them to you and you will be "jumping and leaping and praising God" as did the healed man in the gospels after Peter and John shared the source of true healing, Jesus Christ. Praise the Lord that your sins are already forgiven and you just need the physical touch from God. Amen?" "Praying for you two, or should I say 1 and 7/8th?!?!?"

Friends and Family,
Thank you for your continued prayers. This week here in Cedarville has been an enjoyable and challenging one.
· Praise the Lord again for the many friends and church family we have here. Just seeing different individuals (and receiving their chocolate goodies) has been very welcoming.
· Very importantly, we thank those who have been praying for Sean and Christina Stanfield as they prepare for marriage. This week, they need your prayers even more so. We are grateful to the Grace Baptist church family for offering intensive and caring premarital counseling. As the couple comes to the “end” of those courses, they have decided to postpone the wedding until they go through further suggested counseling. The counselors are very loving and dear to them. This postponement is a big and difficult decision, and we are grateful for the respect they have for those in their lives who care for them. This does not affect their engagement other than the timing of the wedding. Pray for the adjustment of details... an official announcement will go out to those who were invited and planning to attend.
· In Kevin’s health news, after a few days of medical visits at the VA hospital, he was enrolled in home healthcare and now a nurse comes to our home every other day. The doctors also put Kevin back on the V.A.C. wound care (http://www.kci1.com/35.asp) that the Costa Rican doctors had been using since June 6. Some of the sides of Kevin’s wounds have healed up, but there is still a center spot that is a few centimeters deep.
· Our “little girls” Colleen and Tara are enjoying their time back in Cedarville with old and new friends. They have attended several youth group functions even this week and enjoyed being part of the family again.
· Pray for Tia who starts two courses at Cedarville University on Monday for her masters in secondary education. They will be on an intensive schedule, but she is looking forward to them.
Again with our faith in Him, Kevin and Tia
June 30, 2008 Dear Praying Family,
More praises and prayer requests and progress...
· Pray for one of our third-grade students; we praise the Lord that he asked Jesus to be his Savior two weeks before the end of school. Please pray for him and his growth over the summer during our day camp program.
· Praise for a safe trip back to the states.
· Please continue to pray for Tia as she starts getting ready to take masters classes next week at Cedarville.
· And now that we have arrived in Cedarville, it’s time to start helping all those who have been involved in the wedding prep. Please pray for Christina’s mom, Anita, as she is handling most of the work, and for others who are pitching in.
· Kevin started off right away with a visit to the Veteran’s Administration hospital in Dayton. Kevin is impressed with the staff there and how much they can get done in a day. He was able to speak with a doctor, have lab work done, have x-rays taken, meet with a surgical team, meet with the home-care nurse coordinator, get a new wheelchair and new crutches, and more—all in one day’s visit. The surgeons thought that what the doctors did in Costa Rica was good work. He meets with the wound specialist tomorrow (July 1).
Please keep praying for the stitching to heal up well and as quickly as possible, so he can move on to the next step of having a prosthesis (no pun intended).
With faith in Him and happy to be here, Kevin and Tia, Sean, Kaitlyn, Colleen and Tara
June 25, 2008 Dear Praying Family, Thank you for keeping us in your prayers. We are getting ready to go to the states this Saturday at midnight. Today’s doctor’s visit showed more progress toward healing up the wound. The doctor was able to stitch up the wound almost completely. The V.A.C. machine still helps circulation and it has helped the overall progress a lot.

Those are the verses that met us this morning in our Bible reading from Lamentations 3. And then also Proverbs 12:25 “An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up,” AND WE THOUGHT OF YOU! Praise the Lord for those words and persons that He provides for just what one needs.
We continue to pray for Kevin’s wound to entirely heal up, and that no infection set in. Everything looks good, but it takes a long time. Please keep praying. We cannot go to the next step without the healing finished up.
Tia’s mom has left now, too. She has been such a blessing in helping and in company. Just want the Lord knew we needed.
Please see our Ps&Ps site for other important prayer requests and praises: http://hisnet.net/reilly/ps&ps/ (Also we’ve uploaded much of the amputation adventure to http://hisnet.net/reilly/ps&ps_archived/index.htm) With faith in Him, Kevin, Tia, Kaitlyn, Colleen, Tara A necessary p.s.: As we will have to head to the states this summer, we ask that if anyone is able and led to help to offset travel costs, please send any gifts to ABWE Finance Office, PO Box 8585, Harrisburg, PA 17105-8585. Put toward account #11072. The situation we face is that we cannot purchase tickets well ahead of time because we are waiting on the healing process. Also, it is imperative that we arrive in Ohio in early July (or late June) to help out and ATTEND Sean's wedding.
May 17, 2008 Thank you all for praying, and please continue.
Kevin’s mini-surgery yesterday went very well. The doctor helped the healing of the wound along by doing some cleaning and re-stitching from the inside out.
We just need a lot of prayer and a bunch of time. Please keep praying as you have been. We have received so many encouraging emails and friends telling us that they pray for us every day! Kevin is very encouraged. It has only been three weeks since the original surgery and for this situation, that is not a long time.
Again, thank you so much. With faith in Him, Kevin and Tia
May 13, 2008 Please continue to pray for Kevin.
Overall, all is well. The doctor has allowed him to be back at missionary work, which helps keep him tired and sleeping at night.
The spot that has not healed yet needs to have some work done on it. Therefore, this Friday, the doctor will do a major cleaning out of the wound and stitch it up from the inside-out. Then again, we still have to wait until the healing takes affect. Not until that is done may Kevin be fitted for a prosthesis, so please pray. Pray, too, that no infection sets in. So far it has not.
It is interesting that Kevin is 43 years old today. So that means, he has had a good leg for half his life, a bad leg for the second half of his life, and now has a new start for the rest of his life. Praise the Lord.
With faith in Him, Kevin and Tia
May 10, 2008 It has been two weeks (Friday) since Kevin’s surgery, and one week today since the return to home. We go to the hospital daily for physical therapy and redressing of the sutures. We are still asking prayer for the suture to completely heal up. One spot is still not well and needs to be cleaned three to four times a day. We really need your prayers for this one. There is no infection, but it is a spot that could easily get infected. We praise the Lord for Mom being here to help; that is tremendous! (She has to do three other dressings per day.)

With faith in Him, Kevin and Tia Reilly May 3, 2008 Kevin’s back at home—hallelujah, and now for the next steps of recovery. (In other words—please do not stop praying.) He does have to return everyday to the hospital (about 4 miles away) to have physical therapy and inspection of the wound/healing.
Praises: n He’s getting around better and faster than expected—that’s not a bragging thing, he says, but rather an answer to everyone’s prayers! n Much of the wound is healing up very well. n There’s no sign of infection.
Prayers: n That the top of the wound heals up well; it still has more to go. n That he will be able to have a prosthetic device in place as soon as possible (probably three or four weeks).

May 1, 2008 Thank you for your continued prayer.... The week has been a hard one but with continual progress toward success. The doctor says that the healing is going well. No infections. We asked the doctor how many stitches there were, and he just laughed. After a certain number, they just do not count. Two days ago, Kevin was able to get up on crutches, and each day the physical therapist brings him further along. The doctor says that Saturday looks like a probable day for returning home. That will be another big step ....and we’re looking forward to it. How does Kevin feel? “I’m searching for strength....and finding it,” he says. With faith in Him, Kevin and Tia

Thank you for your many emails, phone calls, and most of all, the prayers. I’ve seen God provide great peace and have seen his hand in the whole process. The surgery will be at 1pm our time tomorrow, Friday. That would be 3pm EST. Thank you for praying. With faith in Him, Tia
Dear Praying Friends and Family, This week has been an important one in our lives of Reilly here in Costa Rica—for a few reasons, but primarily in the area of Kevin’s health. We have some difficult news to explain to everybody because from Kevin’s perspective, it's very good news, but to others it may seem horrific. Most important, we need your prayers to help the process along. This coming Friday, April 25, Kevin will be having his lower leg amputated. That is, the calf area and below. After having an accident on army duty, Kevin has struggled with his leg’s health for 22 years. As many of you know, he’s had around 70 hospitalizations over the years. The leg is really not helpful anymore—it's actually working against him. Throughout the years, and especially this year, we have struggled with many ups and downs—generally with chronic pain and two different types of infections. At this point we agree with the various doctors (orthopedists)--in the states and here--that it is time to have this operation done and get a prosthetic that will work –without pain and without infection. For many years, Kevin’s doctors have said that this was a future eventuality. In case you are unaware, his ankle doesn't work; he’s had three toes amputated; he has no feeling in the foot; the big toe has been operated on several times and the joint is failing again; and the calf area still holds dormant infection. Instead, what Kevin can look forward to is a new "leg" that will allow him to walk well, and maybe even learn to run again. Kevin is excited. To him, this is a good step forward in serving the Lord—better than he has been able to realize in the last three or four years. In agreement with his doctors, Kevin will do the preliminary procedures and physical therapy here. Then in the summer, he will return to the states for a more advanced prosthetic device and physical therapy at the Veteran’s Administration hospital in Dayton, Ohio. What a great response our ABWE missionary team here has had, as they have worked with Kevin to cover all the Country Coordinator responsibilities through the upcoming weeks. Tia continues to cover the ministry at Sojourn Academy. The girls continue to be busy with ministries at church and school, and even at home. Tia’s mom, Esther Reed, a retired nurse, will come down and stay with us for a month. The actual surgery occurs Friday, around midday, Mountain Standard Time (2pm EST). Kevin enters the hospital on Wednesday for pre-op procedures. Please keep posted—we will update you after the surgery to let you know how it goes, and we’ll soon share upcoming needs and prayer requests. With our faith in Him, Kevin, Tia, Kaity, Colleen and Tara
