I always enjoy reading what "Lonely Planet" says about
places around the world; it was my chief source of information when we
wanted to learn about Paraguay years ago. So here I come again . . .
Costa Rica is Central America's jewel. It's an oasis of calm among its turbulent neighbours and an ecotourism heaven, making it one of the best places to experience the tropics with minimal impact. It's also mostly coastline, which means great surfing, beaches galore and a climate built for laziness. Costa Rica's enlightened approach to conservation has ensured that lush jungles are home to playful monkeys, languid sloths, crocodiles, countless lizards, poison-dart frogs and a mind-boggling assortment of exotic birds, insects and butterflies. Meanwhile, endangered sea turtles nest on both coasts and cloud forests protect elusive birds and jungle cats. http://www.lonelyplanet.com/destinations/central_america/costa_rica/ To read that, it sounds like we're going to the vacation land of all vacation lands. In fact, we've read that Costa Rica claims to be the "Switzerland of the Americas." However, as you may guess, our goals lie with working in San Jose, the capital city of 1.4 million people, where we will be involved in church planting and m.k. ("missionary kid") education. The Links below will soon be activited. Check back . . . .. |
